Demopolis officials visit ADECA

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs welcomed Demopolis Mayor Mike Grayson, city council member Bill Meador and Frank Dobson of the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission to the department’s headquarters in Montgomery on Thursday.

The three met with ADECA Director Jim Byard Jr. to learn more about the assistance ADECA provides to Alabama municipalities. Grayson discussed Demopolis’ continuing efforts to encourage economic development. Byard and ADECA staff member Shabbir Olia talked with the group about opportunities available through ADECA’s Community Development Block Grant program.

ADECA administers an array of grant programs that support law enforcement and traffic safety, economic development, energy conservation, workforce development, water resource management and recreation development.
