Community support encouraging

The outpouring of support from the community of Demopolis and Marengo County is encouraging for the area.

From children to adults, many people in this area will do anything they can to help a fellow citizen and neighbor through a difficult time.

This has been especially noticeable in the last month in Demopolis with the Harrison family and what they have been going through. Amanda Harrison contracted encephalitis, and has been in the hospital ever since. There have been fishing tournaments, local clubs have donated money, and children have even opened lemonade stands to help raise money and awareness for the Harrison family.

Smaller things in the community receive an outpouring of support as well. The Demopolis High School football team held a golf tournament fundraiser this week for their program, and around 50 people showed up for the mid-day tournament Wednesday.

It’s obvious that we live in a community that cares, and that gives a feeling of comfort to know that you can count on your neighbor if you need them.
