The Demopolis Police Department made an arrest Monday in a case dating back to 2011.

Ronald Jason Richardson, 41, of Demopolis, was arrested for first-degree robbery. In July 2011, a suspect entered Smoke and Chew on Highway 80 and presented a gun to rob the clerk.

Based on new evidence, DPD arrested Richardson in the case. He was processed and transported to the Marengo County Detention Center.

Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese gave praise to the Criminal Investigation Division for resolving the case, and he added that this shows that his department won’t give up on cases.
