Mattie Lee Cannon, 88, of Linden, died Thursday, March 6 at her home.

She was born July 20, 1925, in Linden. She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband in managing a service station, motel, skating rink and thrift store. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and a long-time member of the Linden Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie George Cannon; and daughter, Wanda Sue Cannon McClure.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald George Cannon and Kenneth Wayne (Jan) Cannon of Linden; sister, Anne Barkley Browning of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Linden Baptist Church on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. with Dr. Randy Creel officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers were Donnie Cannon, Andy Cannon, Brian Cannon, Jimmy Pritchett, Walker Pritchett and Cole McClure.

Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Barrineau, Kenneth Barrineau, David Gaddy, James Creel, Mack Barkley, Chalmus Barkley, John Browning, Gordon Brown and David Godwin.
