Roy Reed Hill Jr., DVM, 80, of Coatopa, died at his home Wednesday, April 2.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Reed Hill Sr., and Katie Jones Hill; his first wife, Edith Bouler Hill; and his sister, Merle Stewart.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Edmonds Hill; his son, Mike (Rice) Hill; his daughter, Debra (Thomas) McDaniel; step-children, Clay (Morgan) Walters and Lori Walters; his sisters, Viola Dixon and Martha (Breland) Prater; his brother, Richard (Carolyn) Hill; five grandchildren, Tommy McDaniel, Leigh McDaniel (Drew) Helveston, Roy (Becky) McDaniel, Christopher Hill, Whitney Hill (Cody) Strickland; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Brewersville Methodist Church in Coatopa.

He was a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He established Demopolis Animal Clinic in 1962, where he practiced until 2013.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at Kirk Funeral Home in Demopolis. Interment will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Louie Pettway, Roy Etheridge, Dr. Ted Studeman, Eddie Hill, Jimbo Allen and Jimmy Edmonds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Myles Mayberry, Gordan Moore, Bo Ward, Buck Compton, Dr. Keith Dismukes, Jimmy Watson, Dr. Carrie Wright, Thomas Desrouches, Anna Smyly, Sharon Day and Regina Moore.
