Howard Lavell Jones, 84, of Demopolis, died Monday, April 28 in Tuscaloosa.

He was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Mobile to the late Sylvester Lee and Carrie Lee. He worked as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Lee and Carrie Lee; and son, Ricky Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred “Jean” Green Jones; daughters, Paula J. (Steve) Oates and Karla J. Taylor; sons, Michael L. (Gail) Jones, Dwayne (Tracey) Jones and Britt (Tina) Jones; brother, Robert Lee; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday, May 1 at 11 a.m. at Demopolis Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randall Smith officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers were Wade Jones, Rob White, Randal White, Randy Taylor, Gary Taylor Jr., Nate Rowser and Jerry Hannah.
