A.J. Johnson, 65, of Faunsdale, died Thursday, May 29 in Tuscaloosa.
He was born April 12, 1949, in Perry County to the late Abraham Johnson and Bernice Averette.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Ballard; mother, Bernice Averette Johnson of Uniontown; son, Jason (Charlene) Johnson of Demopolis; daughters, Dawn (Mike) Lawrence of Uniontown and Kellie Marie Johnson of Faunsdale; brothers, Glenn (Ruby) Johnson of Uniontown and Mark (Cyndi Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Oneda (John) Wilkerson of Millers Ferry, Joyce (James) White of Selma and Denice (Jim) Penman of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at the Uniontown Church of God with the Rev. Ronnie Blankenship officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow at Elmwhite Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30-2 p.m. at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Cody Lawrence, Troy Anderson, Zack Lawrence, Michael Johnson, Justin Freeman, Allen Canterberry, Roger Hoggle and Wayne Averette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Walker Jr., Mike Lawrence, Michael Speed, Kenny Hoggle, Don Ballard, Tim Snodgrass, Gordon Vann and Dylan Lawrence.
