ALJ students receive MOS certifications

Six students in the advanced business technology applications class at A.L. Johnson High School received a MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification this semester.
This is the first class of students at ALJ who have had the opportunity to take the certification exams, according to Vicki Barnes, business education teacher at ALJ.

“The MOS certification program is a globally recognized program that certifies a level of expertise with Microsoft Office programs,” Barnes said. “With the new push in Alabama for college readiness and employability, schools are beginning to offer a wide variety of certification exams.”
MOS certification is the leading IT Certification in the world. More than one million MOS exams are taken every year in more than 140 countries.
The rigorous exam prepares students for success in the classroom, builds individual distinction and prepares students for an increasingly competitive workforce.
Barnes said the students worked hard, and as a result, received the certifications in Word and PowerPoint.
