Barbara Blevins, Demopolis’ horticulturist and certified arborist, said people are really catching on to Demopolis in Bloom.

Demopolis has seen a number of positive changes since the city became involved with America in Bloom, Blevins said.

“It’s pulling the community together as one to accomplish what we are trying to do…to make the city beautiful,” Blevins said.

If someone cannot cut their grass or maintain their yard due to being elderly, sick or disabled, they can contact the Horticulture Department or Public Works. They will come out and cut their grass and help with yard work.

The Demopolis Horticulture Department, Beautification Department and Public Works want to reward the citizens of Demopolis for all of the hard work they’ve put in to keeping the city the best it can be.

Citizens of Demopolis are encouraged to nominate someone through the “Demopolisin Bloom” Facebook page, by emailing Barbara Blevins at barbara.blevins@demopolisal.gov or by contacting Demopolis’ Horticulture Department at (334) 289-0747.
