The books, planning tools and display cases will be provided by Scholastic. The librarians at the Demopolis Public Library, along with the help of volunteers, will operate the book fair which will have the look and feel of a bustling bookstore.

“Children’s Librarian Kelley Tarpley had the idea to bring the book fair to our library after seeing Clifford the Big Read Dog on the side of the Scholastic truck parked at West Alabama Christian School this spring,”  said Library Director Morgan Allen. “Kelley is constantly thinking of new ways to promote our library and literacy in our community.”

Books can also be purchased online at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/demopolispubliclibrary.

There will be a link on the Demopolis Public Library’s website and Facebook page. The library’s goal is to help the community read 1,000 books. Funds raised from the book fair will be used to purchase books for the library.

The Demopolis Public Library is looking for volunteers to help with the fundraiser. Volunteers can help decorate and set up, help kids select books, work refreshments, give a book talk or help pack up. There are many ways to participate. If you are 16 years or older and interested in volunteering, contact Allen or Tarpley at (334) 289-1595.
