West Alabama head men’s basketball coach Allen Sharpe has announced the signing of four student athletes to the 2014-15 roster.

Aluk Adub, Terrance Carroll and Dakari Mayo transfer to UWA having each competed and earned their Associates Degree at the junior college level. Kalil Carter joins the Tigers after red-shirting for Arkansas-Monticello last season.

Adub, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Jacksonville, Fla., played two seasons at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Last season, the forward averaged 14.6 points per game while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from the 3-point arc. As a freshman he averaged 8.5 points per game.

“Aluk brings the size and skill set that we look for at the forward position,” said Sharpe. “He was one of the better players in the Florida junior college league this past year. He is extremely versatile with the ability to plays several positions and create matchup problems on the floor.”

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Carroll joins the Tigers through Connors State College in Warner, Okla. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard averaged seven points per game as a sophomore. As a freshman he tallied 15.2 points per game at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz.

“Terrance is coming off two successful seasons at the junior college level,” Sharpe said. “Connors state is one of the most respected junior colleges in the country. He is a proven shooter and will be relied upon to add a scoring threat to our back court.”

Mayo is a 6-foot-8, 215-pound native of Bronx, N.Y. As a forward he averaged 4 points, five rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field at Western Oklahoma State College.

“Dakari comes to UWA from a well-respected coach (Rolando De La Barrera) and program at Western Oklahoma State,” said Sharpe. “We will rely on his length and athleticism to bring a defensive presence to our team. He averaged close to four blocks a game on a very good team and will be looked upon to contribute right away.”

Carter, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard from Montgomery, Ala. was a Class 1A-4A All-Metro selection at Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School before attending UAM his freshman year. He led the Rams to a 21-6 record and an appearance in the south regionals in 2012, averaging 17.4 points per game. He also led the team in assists (6.8 per game) and steals (2.4 per game).

“I was extremely happy to have Khalil with us at West Alabama,” said Sharpe. “He will have an opportunity to play close to home and his family will be able to see him play. He was recruited by many Division I programs and received offers from several of them. We expect him to step in immediately and fight for significant minutes at the point guard position.”

The 2014-15 men’s basketball season will tipoff on Nov. 15 against Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla. at 4 p.m.
