J. Clanton Jenkins, 87, of Linden, passed away Monday, July 21.

He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Guntersville to the late Ulysses Clanton and Nina Idella Tullis Jenkins.

He was preceded in death by his son, J. Clanton Jenkins Jr.; and his parents, Ulysses Clanton and Nina Idella Tullis Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Ann White Jenkins; and son, Jonathon Jenkins.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24 at 3 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel with the Rev. Don Smith and the Rev. Jonathon Jenkins officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow in Linden Memorial Park. Visitation was held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers were Alexander Davis, Lane Eaves, Ryan Eaves, Clayton Glass, Gregory Kunkle and Alan Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers were the Deacon Boards of Providence Baptist Church and Rangeline Baptist Church, and the Linden High School Lady Patriots softball and basketball.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
