Janie Black Ballard, 82, of Demopolis, died Sunday, Sept. 7 at her home.

She was born July 27, 1932, in Nicholsville. She was a former seamstress and a member of Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Elaine Johnson of Faunsdale, Nancy Ballard Seale of Demopolis, Brenda Faye Harper of Greensboro and Kathy Ballard Moore of Pennington; three brothers, Bill Black of Nicholsville, Walter Black on Faunsdale and Wayne Black of Nicholsville; two sisters, Martha Smith of Thomasville and Sue Reed of Vineland; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Spence officiating. Burial was at Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Nicholsville.

Active pallbearers were Kenny Hoggle, Jason Johnson, Roger Hoggle, Michael Speed, Troy Anderson and Joseph Seale. Honorary pallbearers were Dawn Lawrence, Kelli Johnson, Larry Seale, Danny Harper and Bill Moore.
