“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to continue improving this community’s newspaper,” Cole said. “I feel like we’ve come a long way in the last two years, but there’s still room to improve. I’m looking forward to continuing that work. I love this community, and I’m thankful to everyone for their support.”

Cole, a native of Cumming, Ga., has served as president of the Demopolis Kiwanis Club during his time in Demopolis.

“Matt is very deserving of the opportunity to become managing editor of The Demopolis Times,” publisher Andy Brown said. “I’ve only been in Demopolis a short time, but I followed Matt’s work while I was the managing editor in Greenville. I already knew he was a talented journalist before I arrived in Demopolis. Once I got here, I learned what a great asset he is to the community. I know that he will continue to be a valuable part of our team and the community in his new role.”
