DPD arrests two in theft from Walmart

The Demopolis Police Department made two arrests Sunday in connection with a theft from Walmart in Demopolis.

Detra Mona Watts, 30, of Meridian, and Conchita Lashell Ott, 41, of Meridian, were both arrested and charged with second-degree theft of property.

DPD Chief Tommie Reese said a loss prevention officer with Walmart contacted DPD and reported two females came into the store, loaded a large amount of retail items into a cart and left the store without purchasing the merchendise.

Upon arrival, Walmart management provided DPD officers with a description of the suspects, vehicle information and direction of travel. The arrests were made with the assistance of the Cuba Police Department.

At the time of their arrests, both suspects were also wanted in other jurisdictions on unrelated crimes. They are currently awaiting bond in the Marengo County Detention Center.
