James Wesley “Jimmy” Hasty

James Wesley “Jimmy” Hasty, 74, of Linden, died Sunday, Oct. 26, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

He was a native of Marengo County born Jan. 24, 1940. Hasty retired from James Rivers Corporation and, at his time of death, he was a cattle farmer. He attended the Linden United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Olive Hasty of Linden; sons, James Wesley Hasty Jr. of Suwannee, Ga.; daughter, Carol Anne Flowers of Demopolis; brother, Charles Howard “Buddy” (Jan Carol) Hasty of Gallion; sister, Judy Kaye (T.J.) Kirkham of Thomasville; and five grandchildren, Wesley Hasty, Winn Hasty, Lizzie Hasty, Conner Elrod and Charlie Curtis.

Funeral services were held at Linden United Methodist Church on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tony Antonelle officiating. Burial was held at Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery in Dixons Mills.

Active pallbearers were Conner Elrod, Wesley Hasty, Winn Hasty, Jared Hasty, Jeffrey Hasty and Steve Kirkham. Honrary pallbearers were Dr. Alex Curtis, Charlie Curtis, Lizzie Hasty, Mike and Minnie Pope, the men of Linden United Methodist Church and Ted Morgan.
