Ira Compton Averett, 54, of Demopolis, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 7, 1960, in Marengo County to Ira Elliott Couch and the late Lewis Compton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Compton.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Averett; sons, Lane Averett of Demopolis and Mike Averett of Birmingham; grandchild, Katie Beth Averett; sisters, Margie (Lee) Belcher, Helen Locke, Fay (Truman) Noland, and Linda (Doug) Etheridge; brothers, Lewis Compton and John (Kenna) Compton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Brother Toney officiated with Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Doug Compton, Sam Etheridge, Doyle Ruddell, Trey Cannon, Matthew Cannon and John Hunter Compton Jr.
