Malone wins Miss West Central Alabama title

Katie Malone, the granddaughter of Sylvia Malone of Demopolis, was recently crowned Miss West Central Alabama.

The Miss West Central Alabama Pageant was held Jan. 17 on the campus of the University of West Alabama in Livingston. Miss West Central Alabama is an official preliminary to the Miss Alabama/Miss America pageant system. Malone will compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant in June at Samford University. Eighteen contestants from across the state competed for the title of Miss West Central Alabama.

Malone, the daughter of Tom and Yvonne Malone of Trussville, is a 2014 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in broadcast news. For her community service project, she promotes and volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House.

Others finalists for Miss West Central Alabama included: Ellen Hardy of Birmingham, first runner-up; Shea Summerlin of Montgomery, second runner-up; Isabella Powell of Calera, third runner-up; and Myrah Taylor of Birmingham, fourth runner-up.
