The Marengo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of shootings that occurred over the weekend.

Sheriff Richard Bates said the first shooting occurred Friday night, Jan. 30, in Magnolia.

“It all started Friday night in Arlington on the edge of Wilcox County, and somehow it ended up over here in Marengo County in Magnolia,” he said.

Bates said Roderick Pritchett and Skyier Jenkins were shot during the incident. Pritchett was transported by a privately owned vehicle to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital before being flown to a hospital in Mobile. Jenkins was transported by a privately owned vehicle to Vaughn Regional Medical Center in Selma before being flown to UAB in Birmingham.

Bates said on Saturday night, a trailer on County Road 31 was shot up in what is believed by investigators to be revenge for Friday night’s shooting. He added that on Sunday, a woman’s car was shot up while she was driving to the Marengo County Sheriff’s Office to speak with investigators. No one was injured in either of the alleged revenge shootings.

Bates said investigators have been interviewing persons of interest throughout the weekend, but that no arrest has been made as of Monday afternoon.

“We’re still investigating the shootings,” Bates said. “We’ve got people we’re interested in talking to. An investigator will be going to Mobile and Birmingham to speak with the victims from Friday night.”
