Sharon Mayes Dinning Davis

Sharon Mayes Dinning Davis, 63, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, after a long and courageous fight against a debilitating disease.

Sharon was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Demopolis, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and English from the School of Education of the University of Alabama in 1974 and later a master’s degree in training. She taught high school English and biology for many years. She worked as a trainer at Southern Company and later was a vice president at SouthTrust Bank as a manager of training for SouthTrust executives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Woodford Wyndham Dinning.

She is survived by her mother, Gladys (Polly) Brown Dinning; husband, Jerry Davis; son, Allen (Margaret) Davis; and grandchildren, Greta and Ford. She is also survived by her sister, Paula (Paul) Stutts; brother, Woody (Tammy) Dinning, Jr.; sister, Korrie Brown; seven nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held at the First Methodist Church in Demopolis on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Pallbearers will be John Northcutt, Jimbo Clem, Randy Alexander, Eric Reardon, Drew Reardon and Scott Cannon.

Sharon was eternally giving and generous to others. She had a wonderful spirit and a great sense of humor and will be missed immeasurably.
