Pilot Club sponsors two-person scramble tournament

The Demopolis Pilot Club will host a blend of golf and entertainment at its fourth annual two-person scramble golf tournament Saturday, June 13 at the Ravine Golf Course.

Proceeds from the 18-hole tournament will go to three graduating seniors from Demopolis High in the form of three $1,000 gift scholarships.

The Joan K. Lewis Memorial Anchor scholarship recipient is Taylor Cooper.

Tyler Overstreet will receive the Clara Mae Spence/Carol Squires Memorial scholarship and the Howard Parr Memorial scholarship will be awarded to Jaylon Beck.

The scholarship winners were awarded their certificates at the senior awards day.

Golfers interested in spending the lure of a day of golf with friends or business contacts can register at 7:30 a.m. the day of the tournament. The first team will tee off at 8:45 a.m., according to event organizer Andrea Ward.

The tournament costs $75 to enter and golfers can bring their own personal golf carts.

After a memorable day’s play, the team in first place will receive $300; second place will get $200 and third place $150. The last place team will receive a free basket of range balls for participating.

The tournament will also include prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin contests.
