Looking forward to a great holiday weekend

We are only one week away from celebrating our nation’s independence and I’m one week away from experiencing my first event on the river — Freedom on the River.
There are few things I enjoy more than a great community event enjoyed by friends and neighbors. Next weekend offers plenty of that here in Demopolis.
The fun gets started Friday night with the Songwriter’s Festival at Rooster Hall, from 6-9 p.m. As someone who loves well-written songs, I’m definitely looking forward to this event. My playlist is filled with singer-songwriters and I often find myself exploring iTunes for the latest generation of musicians. I imagine it’s a lot more fun to hear the music live than through headphones, so Rooster Hall is where you will find me Friday night.
On Saturday, the fun begins at the city landing for the Freedom on the River with a patriotic parade and, of course, fireworks. There’s no way I could forget about the BBQ Cook-Off at George Franks Field. Have those samples ready, chefs!
Perhaps the best part of next weekend is that it will be the first weekend that my family will join me in Demopolis since I left them two weeks ago. Even with all the fun going on around you, no holiday is complete without your family. Freedom on the River will give them an “explosive” introduction to life in Demopolis.
With all of the work and preparations being done ahead of these events, it sure to be a great time for everyone. So, pack up your family and invite your friends to visit Rooster Hall on Friday night to enjoy the music and the landing on Saturday for a great Fourth of July with your neighbors. I’ll meet you there!
