Pet lovers in Demopolis will appreciate a program being offered by the Demopolis Police Department for both police K-9 officers as well as the general public.
On July 26, the DPD will host a PET Saver First Aid and CPR course conducted by PET Tech.
The four-hour course will help pet owners learn how to administer first aid to dogs and other pets. The class will also deal with the proper ways to deal with snake bites, hot and cold injuries, applying bandages to wounds and many other hazardous situations involving pets. Students will learn how to clean wounds, administer CPR and snout-to-tail assessments for wellness and injuries.
Certified police officers and the general public are invited to attend the training. Upon completion of the course, K-9 officers will receive four credited hours. The cost for the class is $50.
The instructor for the course will be Sgt. Alan Carpenter and the class will be held on July 26, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the DPD training center located inside the police department at 301 E. Washington St.
Those attending the class should wear comfortable clothing and bring pencil and paper.
