Mrs. Lucia Warden Hixon Hicks died on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Meridian, Mississippi after a brief illness.

Born in Mobile, Alabama in 1950, Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of Carl and Alice McMillan Hixon and a granddaughter of Mr. Carl Hixon Sr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hifner and Mr. and Mrs. Leighton McMillan of Mobile.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Cathcart Hicks of Demopolis; her daughter, Ella Hixon Smith of Portland, Maine; her brother, Carl Hixon III of Pensacola, Florida; her sisters, Margaret Hixon of Mobile, Celia DeLaney and her husband Michael DeLaney of Daphne, Alabama; six nephews; one niece; and her loyal companion, Apple.

Educated in Alabama and Colorado, she obtained a Masters in Education and taught for 20 years at Mary B. Austin Elementary in Mobile. Mrs. Hicks was a Kappa Delta at the University of Alabama and a member of Mobile Mystic Societies, The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America and The Reading Club of Demopolis. After retirement, her family moved to Demopolis.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 401 N. Main Street, in Demopolis. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach programs.
