Annabelle Reynolds Braswell, 90, passed Friday, April 7, 2017, at Flowers Manor in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She will be remembered in a celebration of her life on Tuesday, April 11, 11 a.m., at the First Methodist Church in Demopolis. Her nephew, Tommy Reynolds, is officiating.

Annabelle was born August 31, 1926, in Demopolis. She was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama; she continued to be a vocal Crimson Tide alumnus and advocate. She lived in Demopolis most of her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church and later became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was very active in choir, Sunday school teaching, women’s organizations, vacation Bible schools, and bazaars. Her hobbies were playing bridge, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, sewing, cooking, following Bama, and being with her family and friends, who she loved and adored. She was known to have her opinions and to be someone called — “Spicy.”

She moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi, in August  2010. She immediately became an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Crusaders Sunday school class where she was one of the teachers, Young at Heart and Bible studies. She continued to enjoy socializing in her new environment. She was truly nurtured by her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Neilson Braswell; sons, Robert Reynolds Braswell and Samuel Neilson Braswell Jr.; her parents, Charles Stewart and Alo Clark Reynolds; two sisters, Vivian Faye Shirley and Dorothy Laverne Wilber; and two brothers, Evan Clark Reynolds and Charles Stewart Reynolds Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Bess Houston (Lew) of Clarksdale, Mississippi; grandchildren, Andrea Garner (Glenn) of Pine Mountain, Georgia, Heather Williams (Tommie) of Greenwood, Mississippi, Heath Houston (Samantha) of Oxford, Mississippi, Kevin Elliott (Allyson) of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Kendra Miller (Brad) of Cummings, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Carlene Braswell of Corryton, Tennessee;  and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
