The Marengo County Historical Society and Musuem is currently accepting family histories and submissions for a bicentennial and families book.

“The Marengo County Bicentennial History and Families book has received many submissions and book orders so far, but many more are welcome,” stated a MCHAM press release. “The Marengo County Historical Society and Museum is still taking family biographies and book orders and as you gather with family for Christmas and New Years, it provides the perfect time to write your free 500 word family biography for the book.

“Families get together in December and think about their relatives more this month than any other, so while you’re gathered with your parents, siblings, cousins, and other relatives, use each other to help write your family biographies and help make this county historical book a once-in-a-lifetime keepsake,” said Mary Jones-Fitts, chairman of the book committee.

A few thousand brochures were handed out earlier this month with information on how to write a 500 word family biography, along with examples. For more information, contact Jones-Fitts at 334-289-0599 or visit the museum on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
