Robert William Colburn Jr., 83, of Greensboro, Alabama, went to Heaven on Feb. 13, 2018, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at DCH.

Services were held Feb. 16, 3 p.m., at Pineview Assembly of God with Pastor Wiley Kitchens, Brother Steve Vernon and Pastor Ken Sanders officiating. Interment was in the Pineview Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Home Greensboro Chapel directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert William Colburn Sr. (Ruth Nichols); and a brother, Thomas Allen Colburn.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Mae Colburn; son, William Carnell Colburn (Melissa) of Cottondale; daughters, Angela Colburn Warner (Jim) of Union City and Traci Colburn Montz (Darryl) of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Colburn was born in Perry County on Oct. 15, 1934, and was the older of two children. He met his loving wife in 1944, and they were married for 62 years. He worked as a welder at Southern Natural Gas where he retired. Mr. Colburn was a member of the Friendship Lodge #83 for over 50 years, achieving the highest degree of 32nd Degree Mason. He was part of the founding congregation of Pineview Assembly of God, a church where he attended faithfully for 81 years. He never met a stranger and was known for always having a positive and encouraging attitude about life. He used his unique singing voice and ability to play the guitar to witness for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed his many friends and neighbors who were always welcomed with a hot cup of coffee and genuine Christian hospitality. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Larry Skelton and staff; granddaughters, Nadiea Todd, Kristi Colburn, Kimberly Lancaster, Jennifer Brown, Tabitha Stewart, Kelli Montz and Kailey Montz; great-granddaughters: Baileigh Colburn, Emily Colburn, Jordan Carmichael, Charlei Brown and Hartlei Brown; great-grandsons: Kaleb Colburn, Logan Todd and Cooper Montz; Jacob Perkins, Woody Stokes, Steve Thomas, Randy Harper, Guy Colburn, Vernon and Lola B. Harper, Marion Hamm, Donald Barnette, Charles and Judy Mizell, the families of Mt. Carmel Church, Pineview Assembly of God Church Family, Amedisys Home Health, Kim McCrory, Irene Hoskins, and many other friends and neighbors.
