Crawford Arrington Battle, 86, of Greensboro passed away May 4, 2018, at Perry County Nursing Home in Marion.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. from Greensboro First United Methodist with Dr. Jim Moore and Rev. Steve Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in Greensboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing.

Crawford was born June 1, 1931, in Hale County to Jefferson Davis and Emma Woodson Battle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Billie Jean Kennedy; siblings, Mary Ella Etheridge, Earl Tarpley Battle, and Emma Battle Moore.

Surviving Crawford are his wife, Voncille Rudder Battle; brother, Lullum Jefferson Battle (Carolyn); sons, Crawford Arrington Battle Jr. (Lori), David Woodson Battle (Laura), and William Froman Battle (Kim); grandchildren, William Andrew Battle (Laura) and Amber Leigh Battle; great-granddaughter, Aurora Leigh Battle; stepchildren, Ronald Keith Causey, John Kenneth Causey, and Kathy Causey Knudsen (John); 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Broussard, Marty Broussard, James “Cookie” Jones Jr., John Knudsen, Gary Burt, and Jim Parr.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Excelsior Sunday School Class and the Staff of Perry County Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 73, Greensboro, AL, 36744, or the charity of one’s choice.
