Donald Ervin Barkley, 89, of Linden died April 16, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Barkley was born April 4, 1930 in Linden to Dennis Ervin and Rubye Lou Barkley. He was a retired maintenance mechanic with Gulf State Paper Co., a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Campground United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nell T. Barkley; three sons, Jack Ervin Barkley, Dennis Edward Barkley, and Mitchell Jeff Barkley (Karen), all of Linden; daughter, Rubye B. Coleman (Billy) of Hope Hull, Alabama; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. with Corey Dykes officiating. Burial followed at Linden Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers were: Zack Barkley, Will Barkley, Charles Barkley, Chris Sullivan, Jeff Tucker, and Cliff Tucker.Honorary pallbearers were the nurses and staff of Southern Care Hospice.
