Marengo County 4-H has begun a new program to help connect students to the great outdoors.

Beginning in September, but continuing through May, students will have unique opportunities to learn about nature through the 4-H Outdoor Adventure Club. The club will meet each month, except December, through May at Foscue Park in Demopolis, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The next meeting of the club is Wednesday, Oct. 10, when the club will learn about dog obedience with Brandon Smith of Blackbelt Retrievers.

Following meetings include: November 14, knot tying with Larry Hay and Delaney Dixon; Jan. 9, furs and trapping with Amber Baker and Tommy Grater; Feb. 13, birdhouse building with the U.S. Corps of Engineers and 4-H; March 12, beekeeping with Richard Scott; April 9, Lock and Dam tour with Anne Loper of the Corps of Engineers; and May 14, fishing/ant casting with the Corps of Engineers.
