For the third year in a row, the Demopolis City School System has a school selected as a school of distinction by the Council of Leaders in Alabama Schools. 

This year, Demopolis High School has been selected as a CLAS Banner School based on its Integrated Marketing and Broadcasting Program.

“The students, faculty and administration at DHS do amazing work. The integrated marketing program is another example of students learning through real life experiences that impact our community. I am extremely proud of Demopolis High School,” said Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff.

The CLAS Banner School program was created in 2001 to recognize schools in Alabama that showcase outstanding programs and service to students. This year, 171 schools were nominated for the recognition and 31 were selected as finalist. The 31 exemplary schools will be recognized at a luncheon in Prattville, at which the CLAS Banner School from each of the eight State Board District’s will be announced.

“The recognition by CLAS of our integrated marketing and broadcasting programs is a tremendous honor for our school, students, faculty, and staff,” said DHS Principal Blaine Hathcock. “CLAS recognized a total of 31 schools in Alabama and for Demopolis High to be recognized as one of those schools is a testament to the work our students and staff do on a daily basis to make DHS a launching pad for our students to be successful in whatever career path they choose to pursue. We are always looking for innovative ways to provide our students with real world experiences and this recognition helps to validate the things we are doing.”
