Linden City Hall closes due to coronavirus concerns

Amid coronavirus concerns, Linden City Council voted Tuesday to lock city hall until further notice.

Staff will still be at work to see to city business, and payments will be accepted through two drop boxes, one located at the front door and the other at the back of the building. The drop box at the back of the building can be driven up to as well. Both boxes will be checked at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays for payments.

“Business has got to go on,” Councilor Vonda Wilson said.

The city council also agreed to cancel Easter at the Gazebo and to consider cancelling the next city council meeting, scheduled for April 7, if necessary.

During the mayor’s report, Mayor Charles Moore said he and a Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood engineer had met with the two individuals looking to renovate downtown property for an undisclosed purpose. He reported that the individuals will contact him soon on any plans to move forward or not.

Spring Cleaning, in which two dumpsters are placed at the football field, is also set for March 21 – April 6.

The city council also discussed property damage to Scott Park but made no motions as it was uncertain when it took place and who caused it.

The Linden City Council meets every first and third Thursday at city hall at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
