The Demopolis City School System has announced that the Child Nutrition Program meal pick-up will not be made available following spring break as previously announced.

The system had planned to restart the program that allowed all children 18 and under to pick up meals in a drive-through fashion outside of U.S. Jones and Westside elementary schools following the scheduled spring break. Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, the program would not continue on April 6 as planned.

“We will no longer be providing the School Closure Feeding Program,” Kallhoff said. “With COVID-19 cases increasing in Alabama and our surrounding area it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our employees and the community that we discontinue this service.”
