“We are very excited to have Andrea back at the Demopolis Times as a full-time staff writer. While her arrival coincided with certain limitations due to the coronavirus, she has gotten off to a fast start and we look forward to seeing her become increasingly involved in covering our community,” said Times Publisher Robert Blankenship.

Burroughs said she looks forward to learning and growing in her new role at the newspaper.

“I hope this job helps me grow personally and professionally. I love that I get to use my writing skills everyday as writing has always been something I enjoyed. I know this job will help me improve my skills and help me gain new ones for the future,” she said.

She also looks forward to meeting more people in the community. “I talk to someone new almost every week and I always learn something new about Demopolis. When I first started in Journalism at UWA, talking to people I didn’t know was hard. Now I enjoy initiating conversations and learning more about the people and the community.”

When not at the office, Andrea enjoys reading and writing for fun. “I don’t get to read as much as I used to, so when I have the chance I’ll find one of the books I already have and read it again, or I’ll go to the library and find something new.”

Andrea is the daughter of Carolyn and Joel Burroughs of Thomasville.
