Henry Clellan Weaver, Jr. (Sonny) passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

He was born February 19, 1961 in Marion, AL to Henry C Weaver and Janelle M. Weaver.

After graduating from Francis Marion High School in 1979, Sonny studied EMT under Ralph Howard, then received his intermediate and Paramedic training under Glenn Davis. Sonny was Perry County’s first paramedic and was director of EMS there for 12 years. He also served as coroner for Perry County. Sonny worked for the ambulance service in several counties in West Alabama including Choctaw, Perry, Dallas, Hale, Marengo, Montgomery, and Bibb County, rising to Captain with Tombigbee Emergency Medical Services. He also served on an ad-hoc committee developing disaster response plans for the city of Demopolis – the Emergency Preparedness Planning Committee.

At the time of his death Sonny was Director of AmServ Ambulance Service in Bibb County. Sonny spent his life in public service not only providing emergency service but also in training others to be EMTs.

Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Janelle M. Weaver, his brother Steve McPheron, and his in-laws Mr. George and Mrs. Shirley Jennings. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Connie J. Weaver, his children: Kristen (Jonathan) Wright of Alabama, Jarrod (Danee) Weaver of Virginia, Casey (Karla) Morrison of Virginia and Tyler (Lauren) Morrison of California, and his grandchildren: Cooper Wright, Ellie Kate Wright, Jude Morrison and one on the way. Sonny is also survived by his father HC Weaver, Sr., his sisters Lucy (Mike) Kynard and Sue W. Price, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sonny loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and working on the farm with Connie and his dad. He loved his four-legged companions Molly Frances, Tucker and Abby.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Greensboro Baptist Church in Greensboro, Al with Rev Dee McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery in Marion, AL. The family will receive friends at the church at 11:00 am.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Hughey, Elwin Crawford, Matthew Thomas, Andrew Snipes, Ronnie Jennings, Patrick Howard, Joseph Marchant and Chris Colson.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Anderson, Kandy Shoults, Mr. Terry Smith, Glenn Davis, Dr. John Hollis, Cooper Wright, Jude Morrison, AmServ EMS friends, and employees at Bibb Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bigbee Humane Society of Demopolis, Al or any favorite charity.
