The Demopolis City Council recognized the Pilot Club for more than 70 years of service to the city. Pilot Club members L-R: Eleanor Park, Carolyn Roberson, Charlotte Owens, Mayor Woody Collins, Nadeen Ivory, Andrea Ward, and Joyce Weiss.

The Demopolis City Council began its first October meeting by signing a proclamation for Pilot International Founders Week. The proclamation recognized the week of October 18-23 for its 100th anniversary. The Demopolis Pilot Club is one of 291 clubs worldwide and has been in Demopolis for over 74 years.

The Council discussed and put to rest the issue concerning mobile homes in R-3 zoned areas. The council voted unanimously to revoke the items on the Commission’s manual to allow for the updated policy.

Mayor Woody Collins brought up the topic of manufactured homes in the community and said he has made an appeal to contractors and entrepreneurs in Demopolis to take these homes under consideration. He said the utilities would provide a place for individuals who need a permanent place for a manufactured home.
