The Linden Board of Education met for a brief meeting last Wednesday, June 15 where they discussed the ongoing renovation project at G.P. Austin Middle School.
Under old business, Superintendent Dr. Timothy Thurman said that everything is moving smoothly with the G.P. Austin project and he expects to transition back to the school building during the first week of July. Classes had been held in the trade center building for the majority of the spring semester.
Thurman also said that the gym floor isn’t finished yet, but that the contractor has all the supplies needed to finish the project by the time the transition begins.
Under new business, the board welcomed Mitzi Gates as the newest member of the board. Gates was an English teacher at Linden High School for several years and is a former mayor of Linden.
Items approved/accepted by the Board:
- Board accepted the resignation letter of Ms. Sherri Nettles as Intervention Specialist
- Board accepted the resignation letter of Ms. Tawana Jones for LEA position at G.P. Austin Middle School
