Sweet Water Bulldogs bounce back with big win over Trail Blazers

After a stinging loss to the Thomasville Tigers in week one, the Sweet Water Bulldogs bounced back with a big win over 1A newcomer the University Charter School Trail Blazers (Livingston, AL). The Bulldogs scored early and often to defeat their opponent 44-0.

Scoring first for the Bulldogs was Jonathan Morris who ran it in from the 8-yard line with 8:40 to play in the first quarter. David Etheridge’s PAT kick was good, and the Bulldogs were up by seven.

At the 7:46 mark, Trail Blazers quarterback Braden Murray was intercepted by Lashon Young who took it back for a touchdown. The PAT kick by Etheridge was good, upping the Bulldogs score to 14-0.

On the next Bulldog possession, quarterback Timothy Kelley completed a pass to Young for a 27-yard touchdown. Etheridge’s extra point kick was no good, leaving the score at 20-0 with 5:48 to in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Deshanard Blanks ran it in from the 2-yard line for the score with 11:39 on the clock. Etheridge’s kick was good, making the score 27-0.

Elliot Lucy scored next for the Bulldogs on a 34-yard run with 7:55 left in the first half. Etheridge’s PAT attempt was good, increasing the Bulldogs score to 34-0.

Morris would score again for the Bulldogs when he ran the ball 57-yards for the touchdown. Etheridge kicked the extra point, and the Bulldogs took a comfortable 41-0 lead into halftime.

The last score of the game was a 20-yard field goal kick by Etheridge with 4:30 to play in the third quarter. The kick was good and the final score of the game was 44-0.

This week, the Sweet Water Bulldogs (1-1) will be traveling to Perry County to take on the R.C. Hatch Bobcats in their second region game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and all tickets are available on GoFan.com.
