On Saturday March 25, a Tuscaloosa man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Marengo County. The crash happened Saturday afternoon on U.S. Hwy 80, approximately 10 miles east of Demopolis.

A report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said that a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Richard E. Powell, 70, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree. The truck then burst into flames.

ALEA said the accident happened at approximately 1:00 p.m. Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
