Demopolis man charged with murder of Damon Lee Gibson

On April 18, the Demopolis Police Department received information from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences that human remains found off of Powe Road was identified through DNA to be Damon Lee Gibson 28 YOA. Gibson was reported missing on August 18, 2022. He was last seen in Demopolis on August 16, 2022.

After receiving this information and along with other evidence obtained thus far in the investigation, a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Michael Steven Bozeman 36 YOA of Demopolis for Murder. At approximately 4:21p.m., officers from the Demopolis Police Department and agents from the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force arrested Bozeman. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marengo County Detention Center.

Chief Flowers would like to commend the department’s investigators and officers for the dedication and hard work that continues throughout this investigation. He would also like to thank the multiple agencies who have been and will continue to be involved in this case as it is still under investigation.

The agencies who are assisting the Demopolis Police Department in this investigation to include: The Federal Bureau of Investigations, Texas EquuSearch Midwest, 17th Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Jackson Police Department, Butler Police Department, Alabama Fusion Center and Homeland Security Investigations.
