Margaret Holladay Moorer, age 79, of Demopolis passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. She was born Feb. 22, 1945, in Hayneville to Wilson Milton and Mary Frances Holladay. She was co-owner of Collections, an upscale boutique in Demopolis, and an agent with Marengo Insurance Agency for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Demopolis Methodist Church and attended Faunsdale Presbyterian Church in later years.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert R. “Bobby” Moorer; two sons, Robert E. “Rob” Moorer and Steven H. Moorer (Natalie); granddaughter, Ashton Moorer; sister, Mary Lynn Holliday; brother, Wilson Milton Holladay, Jr.; sister-in-law, Mae Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Hayneville High School in 1963 and from Auburn University with a degree in food science. Those who knew Margaret felt her zest for life. She always filled a room with her laughter and bright smile. She loved people, the beach, and decorating her home. Margaret was an avid bridge player who enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Graveside funeral services were held at Demopolis Memorial Gardens on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George McKee officiating.
Active pallbearers were Lynn Blackburn, Mike Holmes, Robert Vann, Fleet Monroe, Tom Cameron and Dan Duke.
Honorary pallbearers were Pete Stritzinger, Dr. Keith Dismukes, Melznie Evans, Sara Cowart, T.A. Simpson, Eddie Ballas, Connie Ballas and Betty Johnson.
