Demopolis City Council meeting

The Demopolis City Council meeting will have its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 5:15 p.m. at Rooster Hall. The work session begins at 4:45 p.m.

 

Whitfield Auxiliary Blood Drive

Whitfield Regional Hospital Auxiliary will host a Blood Drive on Friday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Demopolis Civic Center. Every pint collected helps save 3 lives!

ServSafe Manager Classes

ServSafe Manager Classes will be held on Feb. 18-19, 2025 in Marengo County at the Marengo County Extension Service, 2400 East Coasts Ave., Linden, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break each day. Cost is $150 per person including instruction, certification exam, and 71h edition ServSafe book or $80 per person including instruction and certification exam (no book). Upon successful completion of the exam, you will receive the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ServSafe Certificate. Register online at www.aces.edu/go/servsafe. Hiring event

West AlabamaWorks will be returning to Demopolis for another hiring event at the Theo Ratliff Activity Center on Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-registration can be completed here at https://www.westalabamajobs.com.

 

Demopolis Youth Softball 12U Registration

Registration for the Demopolis Youth Softball 12U Ponytails will continue through Feb. 20. Evaluations will be Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. at field 8. The season will not start until the week of April 21. They will still play a season of 12 games, which will end May 16. Mardi Gras Pawty

The Mardi Gras Pawty ball benefiting Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County will be February 22 at the Marion Art Center in Marion. Tickets are $50 per person and all proceeds benefit Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County, a newly formed nonprofit pet rescue dedicated to helping abandoned, neglected, and abused animals get the love and care they deserve. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner at 8 p.m., and Blues Old Stand with live music and dancing from 8-11 p.m.. There will also be a silent auction and raffle tickets sold throughout the night. Chamber Celebration

The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce will have its Annual Membership Celebration and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Demopolis Civic Center. Citizens Police Academy

The Dempolis Police Department is now accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens’ Police Academy. This is the DPD’s opportunity to give citizens a hands-on insight to what they do every day. The first class of 2025 begins on March 11 at 5:30 p.m. and will be every Tuesday thereafter for three months. Applications may be picked up at the front desk of the Police Department and be available until the class limit (15) is full.
