Man killed in a Friday morning crash

Alabama law enforcement report a traffic fatalities in Sumter and Marengo CountiesA single-vehicle crash occurred between Uniontown and Demopolis at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, claimed the life of a Birmingham man.

James W. Evans, 54, was critically injured when the 2023 Ford F-150 pickup he was driving left the roadway, traveled across a private drive and became airborne before landing. Evans was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Evans was transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, where he succumbed to injuries sustained and was pronounced deceased.

George E. Fulford, 46, of Trussville, who was a passenger in the Ford, was injured and was also transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital. His condition was not known as of press time.

The crash occurred on U.S. 80 near the 48 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Uniontown, in Marengo County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

 

Livingston man dies in Saturday crash

A single-vehicle fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, outside of Epes. Allen D. Reed, 48, of Livingston, “was critically injured when the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned, and struck a tree,” state law enforcement said. Reed was transported to Hill Hospital in York where he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on U.S. 11 near the 25 mile marker, approximately one mile south of Epes, in Sumter County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
