The band and choir of Marion Military Institute will perform at the Greensboro Opera House at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14.
The band, which is composed of 42 cadets, will perform a variety of popular musical selections, often accompanied by the MMI Choir.
The band typically marches in parades at home in Marion as well as across the state, such as the Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham and Mardi Gras Parades in Mobile and Dothan. The band and its members also serve as “entertainment ambassadors” for the college, playing for various college events.
Under the leadership of Director Michael Gimenez, band membership has almost doubled during the last four years, growing from 25 cadets to around 42 cadets. Gimenez attributes this success to a hands-on, personal approach which encourages “cadets to experiment, take risks, and grow.”
Admission to the concert is free, with a reception to follow.
