Lady Bulldogs win two out of three in second week of season

After opening the season with a 1-3 performance in an opening weekend tournament, the Sweet Water Lady Bulldogs rallied to win two out of three games over the past week.

They defeated Clarke County 17-2 on Feb. 18 and Holy Spirit 12-9 on Friday before falling to rival Thomasville 10-2 on Monday.

The Lady Bulldogs (3-4) return to action Friday at Choctaw County to close out the month of February.

Sweet Water 17, Clarke County 2

The Lady Bulldogs racked up 13 runs in the third inning to end the game with Clarke County.

Anna Westbrook was 1-for-1 with a home run, four RBIs, three walks and three runs scored. Kinley Moore was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Raegan Everette and Jamirah Lucy hit doubles while K. Mazingo singled. Reese Ashcroft also reached on three walks. In all, Sweet Water reached on 16 walks.

Whitney Harrington got the win pitching one inning and allowing two earned runs on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Kinley Moore had two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

 

Sweet Water 12, Holy Spirit 9

The Lady Bulldogs scored in all but the fourth innings to hold off the Lady Saints. Sweet Water had 13 hits, 11 RBIs and eight walks to pace the offense.

Anna Westbrook went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, a triple and a run scored. Raegan Everette was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and four runs scored with a double. K. Mazingo was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Reese Ashcraft had a double with two RBIs while Whitney Harrington and Jamiray Lucy had singles.

Averette and Marley Miller added two stolen bases each.

Ashcroft started the game allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks with a strikeout through three innings. Kinley Moore faced one batter but was unable to get an out while allowing a run. 

Harrington came in with relief over four innings to get the win. She allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks with eight strikeouts.
