This week is a big week for my family. Thursday was my mom’s birthday. I won’t tell you how many years because she may or may not want you to know her age.

But it’s always great to celebrate another year of life. I’ve been told too often that they miss getting a chance to talk to their parents. I think I have been more fortunate than most because both of my parents are still living and are in good health.

I don’t mean that to brag because I know many of you may have lost them at a young age. Others may not have known their parents for one reason or another. 

But my mom has been a big influence on my life. She’s always encouraged me and my siblings to do the right thing and that actions speak louder than words.

She has also encouraged me over the years to seek out what is right for me to do. Each person has to seek out their own convictions and know what is the right thing for them to do. What might be right for one person may not be what is right for you.

She’s also taught me how to love. I know we haven’t always seen eye to eye on many things in life, but she’s been there to support me and cheer me on. 

She and my dad have always been willing to pray for me or with me about things. That’s something that means a lot in my life. I know there has been a lot of prayer that has gone up for me over the years and still does. 

There is still more that I could learn from her even after all of these years. 

I want to wish my mom a Happy Birthday!
