The University of South Alabama Regional Autism Network (USARAN) and Alfred G. Adams Jr. Optimist Club of Perry County are offering a free in-person workshop for families and professionals on identifying community resources about autism.
The workshop will be offered in Marion at the Perry County Courthouse on Thursday, March 13, from 4-6 p.m.
Michelle McDaniel, director of USARAN, will be sharing information for both professionals and caregivers about agencies, organizations and programs that offer resources for those with autism. From general information to free training, grants, and direct services, participants will leave with a better understanding of what is available.
She said the training is important because of the increasing need for autism-related training and resources for both families and professionals in the rural communities of our state.
“The Regional Autism Network serves the entire state of Alabama, including our most rural areas,” McDaniel said. “We want to ensure that all individuals with autism and their loved ones feel confident in knowing where and how to access the resources available to them.”
