The Marengo County Soil & Water Conservation District is inviting students from the county to participate in the 2025 NACD Poster & Essay Contest

This year’s contest theme, “Home is where the Habitat is,” encourages students to explore and express the importance of habitat preservation in their own unique way.

The contest is open to students in various grade categories:

• Poster Contest: Grades K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12
• Essay Contest: Grades 7-12

All posters must be 14 inches by 22 inches in size and must include the contest theme prominently displayed on the front.

Essays should be typed and between 300 to 500 words in length. All entries must be original work created by the student and should not be traced or copied from other sources.

All submissions are due by Monday, March 31. You may drop off your entries at the Marengo County SWCD Office, located at 105 East Fifth Avenue, Linden, AL 36748. 

Poster contest winners in each grade category will receive $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place. 

The essay contest winner will receive $200.

Teachers of winning students will receive the same award amount as their student winners.
