Parole denied to Marengo man serving time for burglary

A Marengo County man has been denied parole after a hearing in front of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles on Tuesday, March 4.

The   Board voted to deny parole of Vashon Nykia Slack, who is in prison. For charges of burglary third degree and two counts of second degree burglary. His next parole consideration will be in March 2029.

According to the minutes of the hearing, Vanessia Slack, his mother, spoke to the board on his behalf. His current release date is scheduled for Sept. 11, 2033.

His hearing was one of 24 parole hearings scheduled for Tuesday, March 4. The board granted eight paroles and denied 16, including Vashon Slack.

The board also held 10 hearings on requests for pardons, granting seven and denying three.
