Eight different Demopolis players had a hit against Sweet Water in the Tigers’ 15-5 win over Sweet Water March 11.

The Tigers also fell to powerful American Christian 8-5 and fell 9-7 to Clarkdale in other action last week.

Demopolis will play next at Bibb County Thursday followed by a spring tournament games against Fairhope and Bartlett on Friday and Enterprise on Saturday. They stay on the road at Gordo on Tuesday.

Colton Colgrove and Michael Daniels each had a double and a single in the win. Daniels had three RBIs while Colgrove drove in two.

D’Quarius Banks, Jake Powell, Braxton Vice, Jake Pritchett and Bryant Deas all had hits for Demopolis. Vice and Powell had two RBIs each.

JW McAlpine had eight strikeouts in four innings of work. He allowed five runs on four its and one walk. Only three runs were earned.

Bryce McElroy had two scoreless innings of work with four strikeouts.

Tim Kelley led Sweet Water offensively with a double and a single with one RBI. Sammie Walker, Evan Dunn, Bradyn Norris and DJ Lucy had the other hits for the Bulldogs.

Norris took the loss in one and two-thirds innings of work. Dunn had two strikeouts in two innings of work. Aiden Brown only allowed one run in two and one-third innings of work with a strikeout.

 

Demopolis 5, American Christian 8

The Tigers got two-hit outings from Braxton Vice and Jake Powell, but it wasn’t enough to overcome American Christian.

Colton Colgrove and Roper Houldhitch had the only other hits for the Tigers. Vice scored twice while Bryant Deas, Reed Schumacher and Colgrove had one run. 

Houldhitch took the loss in four innings of work with a strikeout. Vice and Josiah Colgrove each pitched scorless innings. Vice worked two innings while Josiah Colgrove had one inning with two strikeouts.

 

Demopolis 7, Clarkdale 9

Five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference for the Bulldogs. 

Jake Powell had a home run and a single with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Tigers. Jake Bumgarner, Colton Colgrove, Tucker Capps and D’Quarius Banks had hits.

Colgrove had two scoreless innings to start the game. Jack Pritchett allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Deas allowed a run despite not recording an out. Schumacher allowed two unearned runs with a strikeout on two hits.

Bryce McElroy took the loss allowing three earned runs on two hits and a walk. Jackson Hasty got the final out of the sixth inning.
